We have four Open Cricket teams (men and women, ages 16+), Women's hardball team (ages 13+) and numerous Junior teams, participating in the Birmingham and District Premier Leagues, Shropshire County Cricket Leagues, Women's Club Hardball League and Shropshire Junior Leagues for both boys and girls.

Jim Flavell Everyone at Shifnal Cricket Club is sad and upset to hear the news of Jim’s passing and wish to pass on our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. At the cricket club, Jim was behind the project to install the boundary fence, advertising boards and seating, and the striped outfield we are now accustomed to seeing on a regular basis. The sponsorship boards must have brought thousands to the clubs’ coffers over the seasons and forever looking at them and the broad stripes we will always remember Jim. Jim was also one of the fab 5 volunteers who helped significantly with the new pavilion build and a photo in the pavilion of the group, and the building will always honour his name. Jim became great friends with Peter Houlston, who was club captain in the early 90s. They’d often be found down the ground cutting the grass or putting the world to rights in the War Memorial Club. I know Jim was so proud of all his children. He often talked over a drink in the club with Peter, and I would listen in. I know he loved to see Michael play and do well. Mike was part of our successful second eleven that won the league in the early 90’s and was a very talented sportsman and one of Shifnal’s best ever local born and bred footballers. It’s always great to catch up with Mike when he’s watching down the club. Jim’s daughter Helen also played for the original women’s team and has helped on numerous firework displays and club summer balls, and several of Jim’s grandchildren played for our junior and women’s teams. In Pete’s book, the History of Shifnal Cricket Club 1849 to 1999. Pete comments “Jim was the inspiration behind new initiatives. Without Jim’s contribution in recent years, there is no question that the ground would not be recognisable as the one we are able to enjoy today.” Jim was elected club president for our 150th year, reflecting the gratitude of all the members for his kind work undertaken. Jim’s daughter Helen also played for the original women’s team and has helped on numerous firework displays and club summer balls, and several of Jim’s grandchildren played for our junior and women’s teams. In Pete’s book, the History of Shifnal Cricket Club 1849 to 1999. Pete comments “Jim was the inspiration behind new initiatives. Without Jim’s contribution in recent years, there is no question that the ground would not be recognisable as the one we are able to enjoy today.” Jim was elected club president for our 150th year, reflecting the gratitude of all the members for his kind work undertaken.
