A LEGEND MOVES ON - Jack Edwards has made the decision to make the move back to Ludlow CC

26 Aug 2026

Jack Edwards has made the decision to make the move back to Ludlow CC, the club where it all started for him as a youngster.

Since signing for the club as a teenager back in 2012, Jack has been a key player for the 1st X1, and without doubt one of the most popular members at the club, during a period where the club has always competed at a really high level.

Jack made 306 appearances for the 1st X1 over a 14-year period, an amazing feat in itself, but absolutely unbelievable when considering that Jack never lived within 50 minutes of the ground!

Just short of 5,000 runs and over 200 wickets both great stats on their own, but I think everyone at the club would agree that Jack’s contribution was far more than just runs and wickets on a Saturday.

It was not only as a player that Jack contributed to the club, he was involved as a coach at a younger age and helped the development of many a youngster and would always give his time to anyone who needed it, always making him popular with members of the club young and old.

After welcoming his son Freddie to the world at the beginning of the summer, this has been the first year that Jack has not been an ever present and a key member of the team - acting as vice captain for a long period of time, and always willing to take on any role that was asked of him!

Former captain and good friend of Jack, Chris Murrall, had the below to say:

“Just the ultimate team man and a captain’s dream, he had influence on the team in ways he didn’t even realise, but not only that, he was a seriously good player.

There can’t be too many players with a Birmingham League 5-fer bowling both spin and seam, and throw in that he batted in every position from 1 to 11 it tells you everything you need to know about him.

Could bowl properly quick as a young lad and as he matured his batting developed to the point where he made massive contributions opening the batting for both Shifnal and Shropshire, I wish him every success back at Ludlow.”

On behalf of everyone at Shifnal CC, just a huge thank you to Jack for everything you have done for the club, and we are all looking forward to seeing you back at the club soon
