The Get Set Weekend, powered by The Cricket Collective, has long been a key pre‑season moment for cricket clubs across the country. Each year it brings players, members, families, and volunteers together with one shared purpose — preparing for a successful season ahead.
Nationally, the impact is huge. In 2024 alone, more than 1,600 clubs and 33,000 people took part across England and Wales, supporting their clubs and strengthening their local communities. This year, the ECB encouraged clubs not only to focus on readying facilities and equipment, but also on celebrating the people who make cricket possible — the volunteers, the players, the newcomers, and the familiar faces who return year after year.
At Shifnal Cricket Club, our Easter Get Set Weekend captured that spirit perfectly.
To everyone who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm — thank you. Your hard work has a lasting impact on the club and helps set the tone for the season ahead.
From tidying the ground to refreshing the tea room, every job completed makes a difference. Earlier in the week, even the potholes in the drive were filled — a small detail that makes a big improvement for everyone visiting the club.
It was brilliant to see youngsters getting stuck in, learning what it means to be part of a club, and even a few four‑legged helpers joining the fun. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and full of pride — exactly what community cricket is all about.
With the ground looking sharp and the season fast approaching, we’re excited for what lies ahead. The dedication shown over the Get Set Weekend reflects the strength of our club community, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another fantastic summer of cricket.
Fab work, everyone — here’s to a great season at Shifnal CC.
