Tearoom Fundraiser

Valentines day saw the launch of our Tearoom refurbishment fundraising appeal - as we set about totally revamping the unused area so it can be ready for the upcoming season.

The tearoom stands on what was once a fenced play area for a nursery, based at the old pavilion.

Until 2019, it hosted cricket teas, lunches, training sessions, community events, and served as a base during the new pavilion reconstruction.

Work is already underway with hours of work already under taken by a team of club volunteers headed up by fundraising lead Chris Dirkin.

Funds will ensure that the tearoom is completed ready for the start of the 2026 season and available for everyone whether hiring for private functions, our junior groups as part of their Friday training sessions or for spectators to keep out the cold and still have a birds eye view of the action.

The event was extremely well attended, with a full pavilion creating a fantastic atmosphere.

Congratulations were also extended to the Second and Third XI teams, who each finished as runners‑up in their respective Shropshire League divisions.

Strong attendances have created an electric match‑day atmosphere, driving exceptional performances from both Shifnal and the Shropshire County side.
The club’s progress on and off the field reflects a growing strength and professionalism that has defined this impressive campaign.

The Club welcomed overseas player Sam Scrimgeour for the 2025 season, and his impact has been felt across the board.

For anyone who missed our first interview with Sam, you can catch up with it Shifnal Cricket Club witnessed a truly historic achievement in 2025 thanks to It is believed to be the first time in the club’s 176‑year history that a player has scored a century and taken five wickets in the same match — a remarkable double that cements Tom’s place in Shifnal folklore.

We also bid a sad farewell to 1st XI captain His tenure stands as a remarkable achievement and a testament to his leadership on and off the field.

Whilst also celebrating the achievements of our members and volunteers, we were proud to confirm that Cricket Shropshire had presented a Lifetime Achiever Award to ‘Shell’ – His dedication to Shifnal Cricket Club spans more than 43 years, during which he has served as a player, captain, and now our devoted groundsman.

His organisation of the annual Get Set weekends plays a vital role in preparing the club and its grounds for the season, and his commitment behind the scenes continues to make a real difference to Shifnal Cricket Club.

On top of our on‑field achievements, the club’s events team has delivered a fantastic programme of socials for members and the wider community.

Our very first colouring competition proved to be a huge hit, with our younger members enthusiastically bringing team players and scenes from the ground to life for the chance to win tickets to our fireworks night.

Record breaking performance for Tom Gough in Shifnal Cricket Club’s 176 year history !

Saturday 3^rd May 2025, AWAY MATCH - Shifnal 3rds Vs Bomere Heath 2nd XI :

Shifnal Cricket Clubs away match on Saturday saw a record-breaking performance by Tom Gough, scoring 103 not out helping the Shifnal team reach 288 for 8, Tom then went on to take 5 wickets, helping Shifnal bowl the Bomere Heath team out for 193 and winning the match.
This is possibly the first time in the clubs 176-year history that a player has scored over 100 runs and taken 5 wickets in the same match.

Vice Chair, Neil Lorimer commented, "A double of 100 and 5 wickets in the same one-day game is very rare.
